Welcome to the community information and feedback site for Emergency (Natural Disaster) Risk Management Projects being facilitated by Echelon, on behalf of local Councils and other Government Agencies.
The requirement for such a study to be conducted was initiated by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) with a view to encourage the relevant level of emergency management in each State and Territory to review their current arrangements and where necessary, take measures to enhance those arrangements. The object of this review to develop safer, more resilient communities in the face of natural and other disasters.
Emergency Risk Management aims to reduce the potential effects of disaster events by employing a comprehensive approach of prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. Your Local Emergency Management Committee or Agency has undertaken to develop an Emergency Risk Management and Assessment Report in line with this national approach.
Key to this approach is community consultation to ensure that planning and management arrangements are well understood by the community and relevant to their needs.
This site contains general information about Emergency Management planning as well as links to the Draft Emergency Risk Assessment Report (Draft ERA Report) relating to your local area. Draft ERA Reports are made available for public comment for a defined period by the relevant emergency management organisation and publicised in advance. During this time you are invited to provide feedback via this website using the email link provided.
